Stop Overpaying for Krones Contiform Heating Lamps
Let’s be honest: keeping a Krones Contiform running is expensive. A huge chunk of that cost comes from OEM heating lamps. You’re basically paying a “brand tax” every time a bulb blows. We’ve got a better way. We make drop-in replacements that hit all the same technical marks as the SBO or Krones originals, but without the eye-watering price tag. The technical side of things These lamps deal with high-voltage circuits to get PET preforms hot, fast. Because of that, you can’t just wing it with the specs. The wattage and voltage have to be a perfect match for your power supply. If they’re off, you’ll end up with uneven heating or—even worse—lamps that burn out way too soon. To stop that from happening, we use high-purity quartz glass. It’s tough. It can handle the shock of heating up and cooling down rapidly without cracking. Fit and finish Depending on your oven, we use R7s or Sk15 connectors. Why? Because it ensures the lamp actually seats firmly in the socket. There is nothing worse than a loose connection causing an arc that melts your holder. That’s a headache nobody needs. Plus, the quartz is coated to shift the infrared spectrum. Instead of wasting heat on the oven walls, the energy goes straight into the PET. You get more heat density, which means your cycle times get faster. Simple as that. Getting them installed (and keeping them alive) Swapping these out is easy. Pull the old tube, give the contacts a quick clean, and wire it up. But here is a pro tip: high-wattage lamps create an incredible amount of heat. If you’re pushing your machine to the limit to get more throughput, your cooling fans have to be spotless. If the airflow is blocked, the housing overheats and kills the quartz. While you’re in there changing the lamp, do yourself a favor and check the reflector mirrors. If they’re dirty, you’re wasting energy and forcing the lamp to run hotter than it should. A quick wipe-down can save you a lot of money in the long run.
