
Getting Your Husky HyPET Preforms Actually Hot (Where it Matters)
If you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. It’s not about just cranking up the heat. If you do that, you end up scorching the outside of the preform while the inside stays stubbornly cold. That’s a recipe for disaster. We handle this by tweaking the infrared wavelength and power density of our quartz halogen lamps. Instead of just hitting the surface, the heat actually sinks in. Getting the heat to stick Most standard lamps just waste energy on the skin of the plastic. We do things differently. By using specific coatings and filament mixes, we shift the emission spectrum. Basically, the infrared radiation skips the outer layer and punches straight into the core of the PET. We build these tubes with high wattage and precise voltage drops so the heat stays steady from one end of the lamp to the other. No weak spots. The nuts and bolts These are designed to be drop-in replacements for Husky systems. You don’t have to mess around with your setup. The diameter of the quartz and the end-cap sizes match your OEM specs exactly. We also use heavy-duty connectors—usually R7s or Sk15. Why? Because high-current loads can cause arcing or burnout if the connection is flimsy. We don’t do flimsy. And the glass? It’s high-purity quartz. It won’t crystallize or degrade, even if you’re running it at peak temps for thousands of hours. What this looks like on the floor The big win here is speed. Your preforms hit blowing temperature faster, which means your cycle times drop. But here’s a heads-up: more heat density means your oven’s cooling fans have to work harder. If you push the wattage to squeeze out more throughput, just double-check that your airflow can keep up. You don’t want the lamps overheating. When they’re wired in right, those annoying cold spots disappear. Your wall thickness stays consistent, and you can stop worrying about bottles bursting mid-cycle. It just works.
