
Getting Your Sidel SBO Lamps Back in Shape
When you’re replacing lamps for the Sidel SBO series, you don’t want a project. You just want something that works. That’s why we built our replacement lamps to be simple drop-ins. No tweaking, no fuss. The goal here is simple: get that PET preform soft enough to blow, but not so hot that you scorch the plastic. It’s a delicate balance, and that’s where the infrared magic comes in.
Heat, Power, and a Little Caution
For the SBO 2002406262 spec, it’s all about the balance between voltage and wattage. If you want those fast cycle times, you need high heat density. We use high-purity quartz glass so the tubes don’t warp when things get intense. But here’s a tip: if you’re pushing higher wattage, keep an eye on your power supply. And for heaven’s sake,make sure your cooling blowers are actually working. If they aren’t, you’re just asking for the lamp housing to overheat.
The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
Ever notice how some lamps get cloudy over time? We stopped that by using a halogen-filled cycle. Basically, the gas grabs the evaporated tungsten and puts it back onto the filament. It keeps the glass clear and the lamp living longer. As for the fit, we use standard R7s or SK-type connectors. Depending on which SBO version you’ve got, they’ll just slide right into your existing sockets. Plus, we’ve tuned the quartz coating to push the energy straight into the PET material. It stops the heat from wasting away on the oven walls.
Making the Bottles Look Right
Most blow-molding machines are built pretty similarly. Because we’ve standardized the length and electrical load, these lamps work with about 95% of the equipment out there. When the heat is distributed evenly, you stop seeing those annoying thin walls or that cloudy “pearlescence” in your bottles. They just look clean. One last thing—if you find your lamps are burning out way too fast,check your voltage stability first. Usually, the lamp isn’t the problem; it’s the power feeding it.
