We tweaked the tungsten filament density and the internal gas pressure so the lamp glows hot almost the moment you flip the switch. It’s all about cutting down that “thermal lag” in the quartz tube. Because if your lamps take too long to stabilize, your first few hundred bottles are going to have messy, inconsistent wall thickness. Nobody wants to toss those in the scrap bin. A quick word of advice from the shop floor Now, there’s a catch. When you have lamps that heat up this quickly, they put out an intense amount of localized heat. Check your cooling blowers. If they’re clogged with dust or just plain broken, these lamps will bake your reflectors, and you’ll end up replacing the whole heating assembly way sooner than you should. And do yourself a favor: keep those reflectors polished. If they’re dull, that IR energy isn’t hitting the preform—it’s just wasting your electricity.
